Title Report of investigation: Oil-impregnated rocks and other evidences of petroleum
Date 1974-09
Description General geology: The surface geology is entirely Uinta Formation. Most rocks are thinly laminated, fine-grained lacustrine shales and cherts. Only a few sandstone units are present, which are predominantly fine-grained, well-cemented, and lacking in porosity and permeability. Regional dip is gently northward, but structural complexities are quite common, and the bedding may locally be found in attitudes approaching the vertical. The folded and contorted strata appear to be the result of small faults, trending east-west and northeast-southwest. The relative movement on faults was normally not easily determined, and was not normally determined in this reconnaissance study. However, reverse-drag effects were observed to occur (SE/SW Sec. 11) and it is therefore believed that drag-effects cannot be used as a criterion for relative movement on faults in the area.
