Title Application of a self-adaptive detector system on a triple quadrupole ms/ms to high explosives and sulfur-containing pyrolysis gases from oil shale
Date 1983-12
Description A totally computerized triple quadrupole MS/MS is being extended into a dynamic, self-adaptive chemical analysis system at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. These first efforts toward Artificial Intelligence guided instrumentation (i.e. Expert Systems) involve the implementation of a self-adaptive detector system and the interfacing of a Xerox 1100 (Dolphin LISP processor) to the instrument operation computer. This system is presently used for research into the chemical kinetics of hign explosives and into the kinetics of formation of environmentally important sulfur species in oil shale pyrolysis gas with prospects ultimately for "expert system" control of the entire chemical analysis of these experiments.
