Population projections by age and sex for Utah counties 1970-2000 |

Description |
Future trends in population must be a factor in guiding long-term socioeconomic planning efforts in order for the planning to be effective. To be realistic, economic and social planning must take into account not only the future size, but also the composition and distribution of the population. Education, health, housing, recreation, and other social and cultural amenities which development programs aim to satisfy, cannot be gauged rationally without regard to the expected size, composition, and distribution of the population. Also, it is important in planning to account for size of the labor force which will be available for economic production and distribution. In addition, the school age population and its size and grade distribution, the aged, and other special groups must be considered in planning. |
