Title Non Belli Finis?
Date 2022
Description Among sources of valuable information from which to draw inspiration to be incorporated in modern analysis, texts such as foundational philosophy and science fiction novels might not be the first considerations for an actor of international scope. However, this discussion aims to highlight the validity of such texts in the face of an institution many have thus far believed to be rigid. The concept of war and its extent is an institution held at the core of international relations; however, since the world wars, such a structure may no longer be valuable-in fact, the structure may be detrimental. Juxtaposing foundational texts of philosophy and schools of thought and science fiction alongside notable and widely accepted scholarly texts, this discourse uses unconventional sources to prove an unconventional truth-that war is not finite, war does not end. If the way we thought about conflict were to change, we could prove ourselves more versatile and evolved as human beings and come closer to appropriately addressing one of the more valid international themes of our era: humanitarian intervention.
