Description The writer wishes to express his sincere gratitude to Dr.Daniel J. Jones for helpful comments regarding problems of the field work, for critical reading and suggestions in preparation of the manuscript, and for many valuable suggestions during the course of the study. Dr. W. Lee Stokes identified most of the brachiopods in addition to criticizing the manuscript. Professors A. J. Eardley, Max P. Erickson, and R. E. Marsell read the manuscript and offered valuable criticism. Dr. Grant Steel offered helpful advice concerning the recognition of units of the Park City and Phosphoria Formation and identified the major portion of the fusulinids. George Herman gave valuable assistance in securing identification of fusulinids and identified other foraminifera that the writer collected from the lower Great Blue Formation. Dr. Aurele LaRocque kindly identified gastropods collected by the writer from the North Horn (?) and the "Tertiary unnamed formation". The writer thanks Ralph J.
