Creator Friends of the Ski Archives
Description Lou Lorenz Inducted Into Ski Instructors' HALL OF FAME By Stacey Swanson Congratulations to Lou Lorenz of the Park City Ski School who has been inducted into the Ski Instructors' Hall of Fame. Lou was a founder of the Professional Ski Instructors of America- Intermountain Division and has been involved in the ski industry for 46 years. He began skiing in 1946 and soon began instructing at the Deseret News Ski School. He obtained his PSIA I Certification in 1954 and received full certification in 1956. He began his professional ski instructing career at Alta in 1953 where he was a member of the Alf Engen Ski School for 10 years. At the same time he served as Ski School Director at Little Mountain in Emigration Canyon. Lou says when he began instructing "it was a big deal even then to get a free pass, even though a day pass was only $2.75 at Alta." Lou began teaching at the Park City Ski Area in 1970 and is teaching there on a part time basis. He has been actively involved in the organization and administration of professional ski teaching, serving on various boards and in numerous capacities for PSIA. He also serves as a charter member of the University of Utah Ski Archives Advisory Board and is a board member of the Alf Engen Ski Museum Foundation. Lou feels "humble being inducted into the PSIA Intermountain Division Hall of Fame along with the skiing greats." The Hall of Fame was created in --- 1 ou is its seventh member. He cites skiing as "the only profes- sion that brings exposure to the world on a one-on-one basis." And after nearly 50 years as a ski instructor, Lou has met a plethora of people from all over the world and shared with them his love of skiing. These are just a sampling of Lou's merits. We could go on forever, but will sum things up with CONGRATULATIONS LOU! Rerun Of Rerun THE FIRST ANNUAL RACER'S REUNION RERUN WILL BE A REPEAT!
