E very avenue, street, lane and alley in th e city and su burbs has been personally canvassed and th e inform ation con tained herein, received from reliable sources. S a lt L a ke C ity is grow ing, and grow ing at a rapid rate. T he la st official U n ited S ta te s C en sus, (taken in 1890) gave u s a popu lation of 44,843. T h is w as supposed to be th e ac tu a l num ber o f in h a b ita n ts liv in g w ithin the city limits. W hen we m ake our annual ca nvass for th e C ity D irectory, w e go far beyond th e corporate lim its and ta k e in all th e territory adja cent th ereto — north to H o t Sprin gs L a ke , so u th to M urray, ea st to F o rt D o u g la s and w est to B rig hto n and beyond. I t w ill be readily seen by th is, th a t w e obta in hundreds of nam es w h ic h cannot be in clud ed in th e U n ited S ta te s C ensus for th e reason th a t th e y are not w ithin th e city lim its. T his vblum e con tains 26,460 nam es and w e estim a te th e population of S a lt L a ke C ity to-day to be 79,380. W e found few er vacant h o u se s and offices th is year th a n w e have fo und for several years past. In fa ct no desirable or m odern piece of residence property is v acan t, or w ill be vacant for any le n g th of tim e. M uch bu ild in g is go ing on-*m any handsom e residences are be in g erected, bu sine ss in all lin es is b etter th a n for a long tim e past, m ining and m any other ind ustries are bein g rapidly d ev el oped and w e predict for th is garden spot of th e In term ou nta in R egion, th e br ig h test k in d of a fu tu re and in 1905 a population of 100,000.
