Description Presenting Symptom: Retinal telangiectasis; Cotton wool spots. Pathology: Splinter and punctate hemorrhage. Clinical: The patient was a 42-year old female with a blood pressure of 210/136. Noteworthy fundus abnormalities are irregularity of major retinal arteries, cotton wool spots, splinter and punctate hemorrhages. Also evident in this slide - but not necessarily a hypertensive manifestation - are the tortuosity of the retinal arteries, arteriovenous nicking, dilation of small venules and broadening of the arterial light reflex.
