Description Juxtaposition of a sketch of the desert between the Grand (Colorado) and Green Rivers, drawn by Richard H. Kern during the Gunnison expedition on September 28, 1853, and a recent photograph by Robert Shlaer from approximately the same place. Shlaer notes that the Salt (La Sal) Mountains were omitted from Kern's sketch.
