Update Item Information
Title Plate 233
Alternative Title Sept 7th on Grand River, sketch
Description Sketch of the view from much the same position as Plate 230 but looking more southward from a high hill adjacent to Highway US 50, and drawn by Richard H. Kern during the Gunnison expedition on September 7, 1853. Shlaer observes that Kern probably drew this and two others nearby to document the impracticality of building the railroad through this canyon.
