Description Juxtaposition of a sketch looking upstream along the course of the Grand (now Gunnison) river at the upper end of Blue Mesa Reservoir, which flooded the original bed of the river. Drawn by Richard H. Kern during the Gunnison expedition on September 7, 1853, and a recent photograph by Robert Shlaer from approximately the same place.
