Description Panoramic photograph by Robert Shlaer taken near the site where Richard H. Kern drew his sketch of the San Luis Valley and adjacent mountains on 20 August 1853. Shlaer notes that he could find no information about a "Fort Valdez" in the vicinity, but the location is along Ute Creek, south of Fort Massachusetts.
