Description Photograph of Augustus P. Hardy, who is said to have taken the first cotton seed to Utah's Dixie. This photo appeared in Mark Pendleton's artice entitled, 'The vanguard of Utah's Dixieland," in The Improvement Era, vol. 42 (Sept. 1939, p. 536-539. In the 1880s, he was Sheriff of Washington County and led a posse to Silver Reef to arrest striking miners. (See page 91 of "Saga of Three Towns.")
