Show Project: Higher Level Dance Therapy Team Members: Trina Bellendir Start Date: March 2017 Completion Date: November 2017 I. Problem Situation V. Countermeasures The University of Utah Orthopedic Center is in need of more dance and foot-specific physical therapy equipment. Dance specific therapy equipment has been ordered, including: turnout discs, balance pods, and foot exercisers. The Dance Therapy Program has received a Bodhi system, which will be implemented with the new addition at the Orthopedic Center. Faculty Unit/Department: UUOC Physical Therapy II. Current Situation UUOC currently has a turn out disc that is not moving well, in addition to a limited supply of foot and toe therapy equipment. This prevents optimal treatment for dancers recovering from injury. III. Target/Goal The goal of the project is to treat elite dancers within our community more effectively and efficiently. VI. Implementation Many of the items ordered will require training to use; equipment training is expected to take approximately one year to complete. The dance therapy equipment has been ordered and received by the program, and is currently being used with both dancing patients and foot/ankle patients. VII. Follow Up TBD IV. Root Cause Analysis Most of the UUOC physical and sports therapy equipment is not dance specific. $$ Impact: $1,074 |
