On the housing problem in Salt Lake City

It would be very well if each generation could enjoy the advance that has been made and is being made continually in house building. But the endurance of a house is much greater than that of a life and, in most instances, to change each and every house or even a comparatively small number to conform to the latest inventions of sanitation and comfort is almost impossible. This is due not simply to lack of funds of the owners; the inherent structure of the house might render it impossible. Such is the case with a large percentage of the present homes that do not have the modern conveniences, I shall now attempt to show the conditions of some parts of Salt Lake City as they exist at the present time.
