Title Teen sexual assault & dating violence curriculum
Creator Tawzer, Christiana
Subject Sexual assault; Adolescents; Sexual assault; United States; Utah
Description The primary purpose of this paper is to examine research on teen sexual assault, a huge social issue in the United States. Utah's incidence of rape is higher than the national average. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable in 2006, 8% of female high school students and 6% of male high school students in Utah reported being physically forced to have sex when they did not want to. The focus of the paper will be to look at preventative measures through evidence-based sexual assault education programs. The curriculum for this program was largely based on the San Diego Sexual Assault Curriculum and Michigan Dating Violence Curriculum. Finally, the logistics of making the aforementioned curriculum available and accessible to the public, as well as factors of sustainability will be explained. Results thus far and a personal reflection will follow.
