However, when the regenerator is switched to the combustion (fanning) state, the heat contained in the regenerator is changed to air sensible heat due to the flow of combustion air, and the temperature of preheating air drops to approximately 1070K until the combustion changeover (to B burner) occurs. This data reveals that the temperature of preheating air averages 1170K. The temperature on the low-temperature side decreases to room temperature due to the flow of room-temperature combustion air. B burner is burning after 30 s. During this period, A burner becomes the exhaust burner, and the thermometer on the high-temperature side indicates the temperature of exhaust gas. The thermometer on the low-temperature side indicates the temperature of exhaust gas, which becomes cooler because heat is absorbed by the regenerator. The temperature of exhaust gas increases as the temperature of the regenerator increases. On average, exhaust gas is released at a temperature of 440 K. Comparison of heating abilities W e compared the heating ability of the conventional burner to that of the regenerative burner by heating the ladle at an initial temperature of 870K. A comparison of these two types of burners in terms of the temperature changes inside the ladle is shown in Fig. 4. When the conventional burner is used, the amount of C O G used remains constant at 200 Nm3/h, and the temperature inside the ladle reaches 1270K after about 10 hours. When the regenerative burner is used, the temperature inside the ladle reaches the set temperature of 1270K after about 4 hours, and the amount of gas is reduced from 120 Nm3/h to 80 Nm3/h thereafter required in order to maintain the ladle temperature at 1270K. Since the temperature of preheating air increases as the temperature inside the ladle increases, the heat input is increased in the high-temperature region even when the fuel usage remains constant, and the rate of temperature increase in the high-temperature region hardly changes.
