Title Social and psychological factors in sustaining high fertility among the L.D.S population
Date 1977-04
Year graduated 1977
Description The purpose of this study was to analyze the social and psychological factors which maintain a significantly higher birth rate among the Latter Day Saints (LDS or Mormons) than the united States' birth rate. This was done by comparing the crude birth rates of the Mormon Church with that of the United States from 1920 through 1975, by analyzing the relationship between religion and fertility, and speculating on reasons for adherance or nonadherance to the pronatalist policy of the Mormon Church.
