Abstract High performance low NOx burner installed high turndown performance and high-speed jet flow have been developed for improving productivity and product quaIity. However there are many cases that combustion equipment in actuaI running can not fuIly fulfiII its specific performance due to difficulty in adjustment of burner combustion rate and marginal control accuracy. So Chugai Ro and Osaka Gas developed "IntelIigent Burner System" as high performance controller, under the idea of "How such combustion equipment would be improved by combustion engineer who is the most famiIiar with burner?" and "we would Iike to offer high performance technologies covering even what are generally missed". The objectives of the development were (1) Consideration into the global environment, (2) Energy-saving measure, (3) Labor saving at field, (4) Improvement of treatment quality, and (5) Flexibility to diversified heating patterns. The developed system manages combustion conditions with high accuracy after presetting individual burner conditions by its interactive type keyboard operation. In addition, the system is provided with alarm message functions including self-diagnosis function, fail-safe and fail-proof functions. These functions are supported by original technology, which is a combination of composite throttle valve and sensor control of original design.
