In; Karelia Lonnrot wrote them down and gave them the; title, Kalevala, or Ancient Karelian Runes from the; Past of the FinniSh Peoples. Kalevala has had a--­; powerful influence on Finnish culture, but its; influence is to be felt also beyond Finnish boundaries; [pp. 7 4, 7 5] .
