The decision to refund debt is one which requires a complex analysis of variable factors. There is no absolute mathematical method of determining whether or not to refinance. The expected market rate of interest, callability of the old bonds, ease of sale of the new bonds and the cost of capital in the future are some important variables for which we can only make a good estimate. If these variables change from initial projections, the conclusion to refinance may also be changed |
