The doctrines of Mormonism will be exponded to an audience at the Acedemy of Music this afternoon and evening by one of its greatest exponents. He is B. H. Roberts, one of the seven who preside over the 107 "quorums of the seventy" of the Mormon church. The quorums of the seventies represent the great body of the :Mormon church, which, once confined I exclusively to Utah, is now endeavoring to become universal. Mr. Roberts, accompanied by George D Piper and Melvin G. Ballard 1 is making a tour of the Northern States missions, propagating the faith. The headquarters of this mission has been located here for two 1 months, and1 is presided over by Elder Samuel G. Spencer, formerly of Council Bluffs, Ia., from where the quarters were moved. Elder Spencer directs the movements of 100 elders in the Northern States. One of the other members of the party, Mr. Piper, is the leading tenor of the Mormon Tabernacle choir and sang here. several mon tlls ago, At the World's fair conference of the seven he won second prize. Mr. Roberts w111 lecture at 2 o'clock this afternoon on "The Relationship of Mormonism to the Christian World," and at 8 o'clock in the evening on "The Mission of Joseph Smith." Preachers of all creeds and belie.v ers of all faiths are invited to both the afternoon and evening lectures. The trio of propagandists will remain in this vicinity a week or longer, appearing during the coming week twice in Independence, the seat of the opposition to the far Western organization, and where the believers, or "Latter Day Saints," claim t.o be the true followers of Joseph Smith. There are three presiding quorums or councils in the Mormon church, the first called the "Presidency," .c omprising three members. Then there is the quorum of the "Twelve Apostles." The "quorums of seventies" are 107 in number, constituting the propaganda of the church, all presided over by "the seven."
