There will be significantly more radios, television sets, telephones, newspapers, magazines and automobiles among the Ute Indian students who are good readers than among those who are poor readers. Methodology Sample The subjects used in this study were full-blood Ute Indian students enrolled in the first grade in Whiterocks and Todd elementary schools when they were first tested in 1959. This sample was retested in 1964 rendering scores on 32 of the original sample who were now sixth grade students. The three remaining students used in the final sample were tested in the spring-of 1965, with a -l correction being deducted to compensate for improvement over a one-year period of time.
