Show I just read Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing the Rising Sun", which almost glorifies, eulogizes in a very positive way, the testing that occurred down there in New Mexico and seemingly the only negative impacts are what happened to the Japanese where the bombs were dropped. There may be as much damage to Americans from the Downwinders element as there was to the Japanese in a sense. Of course, they may have an even greater problem over time because of the radiation issues, but I fear sometimes in certain elements of our society, we glorify these things rather than perhaps being more prone to being specific on impacts that they actually have on human society and human beings. Robert Nelson: That's great. That's perfect. Tony Sams: Could you just do me a favor and just say once again, just look in the camera and say your name and I give my permission for this to be used for the Downwinders Archive? Orrin Tether Colby Jr.: Sure. My name is Orrin Tether Colby Jr. I give my permission for this to be used in any fashion that is deemed appropriate by the project and by the University. I am seventy-six years old and again I spent my youth years in Sevier county, I was born in Bingham Canyon, spent my youth years primarily in Sevier county, a little bit in Sanpete county. Robert Nelson: Great. That's terrific. Thank you. <End of Interview Footage> |
