Show For the tests of oil, gas and coal combustion on an even more reduced scale, the 0,5 MWt Experiment~l Furnace was used. It is formed essentially of a vertical refractory furnace with an internal section of 800x800 mm, fed by a single burner placed on top, and of a system of auxiliaries pre-set for its working. Such plants permit combustion tests to be performed to improve the functioning of the burner, to heat-check the flame aerodynamics and to improve the efficiency of the atomization system. They permit, moreover, the experimental verification of the similarity criteria calculated on the basis of theoretical studies and mathematical models. Through these plants different geometries are characterized, in order to verify the effect of some parameters on the NOx, CO emissions, particulate and unburnts. Full scale combustion tests The combustion tests in full scale were carried out on S. Gilla Unit # 1. It has a 100 MWt capacity corresponding to 35 MWe. The boiler has a main burner placed on the bottom and 8 tangential burners placed at two different heights. Its dimensions are about 6 x 6 x 20 meters. On this plant it is possible to perform tests of oil, propane gas combustion and recently also coal combustion. The great advantage of this trial plant is that test costs are partly covered by the production of electric energy supplied to the grid. On this plant interesting solutions obtained by tests performed on the reduced scale facilities were verified before the installation of the burner on a production plants 400 350 300 E Q, Q, 250 N -r--._--t- 0 ~ M 200 ~ >< 0 z 150 0 (J 100 50 0 0 0.5 Oxygen in the flue gas (02). % Figure 8: Synthesis of the results obtained with the developed burners. 8 |
