Show Jurying this show was an exciting and marvelous experience for many reasons. . . one important one being the pleasure of jurying with a congenial person like Tony van Hasselt who enjoyed the search for reason and understanding. The entire gamut from realism to abstraction was pre- sent in the 414 entries, which reaffirmed my belief in arts' criteria, which has no limitation of style . . . and also indicates an awareness on behalf of Western Federation members of the changes and challenges in today's art world. The structure, content and aesthetic quality of these 111 accepted in the show was ex- cellent and even the rejections themselves would have made a show worth seeing. My congratulations for the entire concept of the Western Federation of Art Societies and to the Lubbock Watercolor Society for their efforts in making this quality show possible. The love, understanding and appreciation of art has been brought closer to the people of this country through organizations like this. Jo Taylor, A.W.S. Best of Show To judge this show was an exciting and inspiring ex- "Cliff Dwelling" Hanna Baugh, McAllen, Texas perience, dampened only by the knowledge that the available hanging space necessitated the elimination of some equally exciting work. Yet, as a result, I feel we created a strong and extremely professional exhibit. Congratulations to all participants. Tony van Hasselt, A.W.S., A.N.A. |
