Show -2- prayers are for the good of all of the peoples of the world. The prayers are made for good life, for long life, for moisture in all forms-snow and rain, for seeds-and bountiful growth, for material wealth, for food (corn, wheat, edible plants^ not only for humans • but for the other living beings on the earth. These prayers are not only for the Zuni people, but for all of the peoples of the world. This is what Zuni people believe . When the Zuni religious leaders go up there on that mountain at Kolhu/wala:wa, they pray for help for everyone-even the rancher who doesn't want them there. They pray for him. They put all ill feelings aside and pray for everyone, including those who cause them hardship. And when the Zuni religious leaders go up on the mountain at Kolhu/wala:wa they receive a vision on the future of the world. Kolhu/wala:wa is the most sacred place to our people, and has been for as long as we can remember. It is so sacred that it ought to be in our ownership. n |
