Show The Uinta Basin, a structural depression, lies mostly above 5,000 feet elevation. South of the basin a high east- west strip of plateau rises gradually to over 9,000 feet above sea level. This plateau is divided into an east and west member by Desolation Canyon, a 3,000 foot gorge cut by the Green River. From the southern edge of this high plateau, the Roan and Book Cliffs drop 3,000 feet. Landforms of the Uinta Hydrologic Area are shown on map # 17e This map was reproduced from " Landform Map of Utah" by Merrill KD Ridd of the University of Utah.
