Show APPENDIX D RESOLUTION WHEREAS, one of the principal objectives of the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact is to secure the expeditious agricultural and industrial development of the Upper Colorado River Basin in the interests not only of the Upper Basin States themselves but of the country as a whole; and WHEREAS, such development hinges principally upon the development, conservation and utilization of the water resources of the Upper Colorado River Basin; and WHEREAS, continued investigations by the Department of the Interior, particularly through the Bureau of Reclamation, the Geological Survey, the Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the National Park Service; and by the Department of Agriculture, particularly through the Soil Conservation Service, the Forest Service, and the Rural Electrification Administration, are essential for the production and execution of the soundest plans of development, conservation and utilization of the water resources of the Upper Colorado River Basin; and all of said agencies have carried out effective programs in the Upper Colorado River Basin for a number of years, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE UPPER COLORADO RIVER COMMISSION 1. That this Commission desires hereby to express its appreciation to the Departments and agencies named in the preamble to this resolution for the efficiency and effectiveness with which their programs have, in general, been carried out in the Upper Colorado River Basin. 2. That the Congress is urged, to the fullest extent practicable in the light of other needs, to appropriate for such agencies funds adequate to enable them efficiently to continue their programs in the Upper Colorado River Basin. 3. That the Secretary and General Counsel of the Commission be and he is hereby authorized and directed to do all things necessary and proper to call this resolution to the attention of the Executive and Legislative Branches of the Federal Government, -31- |
