Show Increase Profitability With Your Existing Furnaces The R.J. Cyr Scrap Preheater system is proven to: • INCREASE MELT DECK THROUGHPUT Throughput is increased by up to 17% by preheating the scrap to an average 800°F. • REDUCE ENERGY COSTS Cost efficient natural gas is used as a heat source. The preheated charges require less melt time and electricity for a net energy savings of 11%. • ELIMINATE METAL SPLASH Water and volatile oils are burned off in the preheating process, eliminating any moisture in the charge and minimizing furnace bath eruptions. • INCREASE CHARGE HANDLING FLEXIBILITY Each system is custom designed to fit into existing operations. Insulated buckets maintain the charge temperature for up to 30 minutes. Four buckets operate in a nearly continuous loop in various stages of the preheating process. • REDUCE EMPLOYEE HEAT EXPOSURE The enclosed preheating system and insulated buckets keep the heat in. Hot air is vented to the outside away from the melt deck. • IMPROVE INTERIOR AIR QUALITY Smoke and fumes are vented to the afterburner for a cleaner work environment. • REDUCE PLANT EMISSIONS Airborne contaminants are burned off through the afterburner creating more environmentally friendly exhaust Only Minutes from Loading to Discharge The R.J. Cyr Scrap Preheater system uses natural gas in a closed system to preheat the furnace charge. Four buckets operate concurrently in a continuous process. 1. A vibrating conveyor feeds the insulated bucket with scrap. 2. The burner descends and hot gases are drawn through the scrap charge bucket. The afterburner combusts the airborne contaminants. * I 3. The exhaust temperature is constantly monitored and in just minutes the charge can reach 800°F. The bucket is cycled and transported to the furnace for emptying. 4. The emptied bucket is returned, ready for the next cycle. |
