Show Calif. Ex. 7762: Statement of Chairman John R. Murdook of Arizona, August 2, 1946, to the House Committee on Irrigation and Reclamation re Hearings on H.R. 5434 Reauthoriz^ ing the Gila Project, 79th Cong. 2d. Sess. (1946) Chairman Murdock also directed a similar summary statement on the hearings to the House Irrigation and Reclamation Committee on August 2, 1946, in which he urged the earliest possible consideration of the reauthorization proposed by Congress.-/ The Gila Project was reauthorized in the next Congress,-/ with a proviso that "the waters to be diverted and used thereby, and the lands and structures for the diversion, transportation, delivery, and storage thereof, shall be subject to the provisions of the Boulder Canyon Project Act of December 21, 1928, and subject to the provisions of the Colorado River compact signed at Santa Pe, New Mexico, November 24, 1922,"^/ The statute also provides that "nothing in this Act shall be construed to amend the Boulder Canyon Project Act of December 21, 1928, as amended by the Boulder Canyon Project Adjustment Act of July 19, 1940.
