Show Lou Glist, President WAS-H President's Statement The year 2000 is full of firsts for WAS-H. Among the important firsts is this exhibit, the first WAS-H Signature Membership Show. Starting with the Spring Open Show of 1985, those active members whose work has been exhibited in an open show five times become a "WAS-H" signature member. The word "signature" itself connotes many things, as a little exploration into its meaning tells us. Derived from the Latin signum, meaning a sign, an emblem, a distinguishing mark, the root of the word gives us designate, insignia, significant, design. In context then, a signature member has a designation by a mark given to important design. Today our open show is the 23rd International Show, where we proudly find many of our fine WAS-H signature members, continuing to show their work along side those of other significant watermedia artists. I would like to especially thank WAS-H member Ann Hartley for bringing this show and catalogue together and to Paul Civiletto, who designed it. Thanks to you both. Sincerely, Lou Glist, President, WAS-H Additional copies can be obtained from WASH 713-942-9966 for $10.00 -----------------------------1~ |
