Show • ;) The party finished the trip to Salt Lake City, ~ then returned to Council Bluffs.J 1 I I rrhree years later~ members of the same party were making a journey to the Black Hills of South Dakota . While passing by a friendly Indian tribe, the party noticed a white woman washing clothes in a creek . rhey stopped to ask directions from her and when she turned ab out, ; the men immediately recognized her as being the woman who had r)een captured by the Indians three years before . The men asked her to come with them, but she had learned the Indian language and liked the Indian ways , ~o decided to spend the remainder of her life with them . ' I ) They were surprised at her decision, but left her (there and continued on their journey, ( feeling light at heart knowing that she was alive and hapvy . grandfather was a member of the part ~ and the story has been handed down _through our family since that time .
