Description Utah Foreign Language Review (UFLR), April 1999, volume 9 number 1, 99 pages. Special Topic for this Issue: Trauma, Memory, Mourning. The Utah Foreign Language Review is published annually by the Publishing Council at the University of Utah and the Department of Languages and Literature. The Utah Foreign Language Review welcomes essays on the annually set topic in English or any other language. The journal is receptive to a variety of topics, whether general or specific, and to all scholarly methods and theoretical perspectives. The ideal Utah Foreign Language Review essay addresses a significant problem relevant to the annual topic, delineates research findings, and engages the reader through a concise and clear presentation. The Utah Foreign Language Review, run entirely by graduate students, welcomes submissions from scholars of all ranks. Articles of fewer than 2,500 words are not considered for publication; articles should not exceed a maximum of 20 pages. The Utah Foreign Language Review urges its contributors to be sensitive to the social implications of language and to strive for a wording free of discriminatory tones. The Creative Writing part of the Utah Foreign Language Review is meant to present inventive and artistic approaches to language.
