Show GEO GE SHIMAMOTO right kind of a spirit, n spite of the prejudice, they re willing to serve the cause of the country. M ny a time I have been thrown a rotten egg, and the wife has been threatened, but I told wife I have principle. She was very good with understanding this and two daughters beginning to understand how I feel about it. We believe we raised about two hundred young volunteers. At that time I-- (END OF SIDE ONE] GS: She went out and came back about fifteen minutes later and she said, "Dad, would a Ph.D. satisfy you?" Then she said, "Dad, I will get you a Ph.D." And she did it from Harvard. ST: Wonderful. GS: You know when Radcliffe became Harvard, that was the time. And that's the way our little family operate, work close together, and live together, and when she got Phi Beta Kappa from Bernard College, she said, "Dad, I want you to keep it because you made me earn this." ST: Wonderful. That's neat. I have in a few minutes to go out in the lobby. A woman named Kazu Iijima-- GS: Iijima? ST: Yes, yes. I really need her here. I don't know whether she knows you or not.
