We moved out to a farm l.n Orem and I don't know, we pl.cked pears, peaches and cherries until that season was over. And we lived right on the farm [in] the farmhouse so nobody wanted to cook then either so I used to--I said, "Okay, I'll cook." But in those days there was more time. We had ration points, you know, we had to have certain amount of points to buy meat sometimes. ST: Oh, yes. H: So we learned to eat chicken and rabbit which none of us [had eaten] I don't think--we were all city kids. You got to remember that and another thing I learned was I'm not a farmer. ST: No. TH: And then toward the fall-- ST: How did you get along with the people in Provo? TH: Well actually, there was a gap during that time because they didn't come out and tell you what they thought. They were kind of cool indifference-- ST: Oh, yes. TH: --in Provo.
