Show INTERVIEW: Medina Page 8 JT: Yes, Phoeni' is up h re, and Tuson is up here and Ajo is down below. It is a little mining town. Any way it is •.. EM: Yeah I know what it is. JT: There are some Medina's there. EM: Maybe they're our cousins. JT: Probably. EM: You know I have a kick here. A man stepped into the, well, I was right. They stepped into a store over here, Pet Trujillo's store, the other day and she knew me. I didn't ., Well she had been a student in my school andunder my supervision, but I didn't know it. So she stepped up to me. "cCorno esta primo? Y por que" pr~.m o? Y digo pues porque los dos eramos Medina y de que Medina eres tu ... de Ruben Medina." I come to find out that I had her in school, but heck she was a big girl, husky. Then she was a tiny tot jn school, you know. JT: One other thing, you know, right after the Mexican Revolution was there any influx of Spanish speaking people up this part? EM: Up this part this way? It was the beginning, it was the beginning. So you couldn't tell if there was any effect up here, on the influx of the Spanish population. So you couldn't tell if there was .any effect up here, on the influx. You must know this. You do know, that it tGok many generations for those people to get there. Now my great great great started the movement~ Who got there? My great my grandfather. The great, great, great off as it took, they traveled maybe a hundred years, a hundred miles. A hundred years, a hundred miles. So the people that started, their great, great children, reached here. They lived there, they actually lived there. And the off springs move |
