Building 521 quickly became home to nearly 300 medical students who spent much of their lives in the building taking classes, seeing patients and assisting with research. Transitioning from the medical school buildings on main campus and the old county hospital to the new combined facility on the medical campus gave students better access to patients and more collaboration with faculty than ever before.
