Abstract Sorensen (b. 1947) joined the Coast Guard and was stationed aboard the and the . After ten years with the Guard he joined the Navy and was assigned recruiting responsibilities in Salt Lake City. He later attended OCS and was commissioned in 1981. His military career spanned twenty years active duty and six years in the Reserves. He retired in 1991. He served in a variety of locations, including Hawaii, the Philippines, Japan, Guam, British Columbia, the Aleutian Islands, and Vietnam. Assigned to Naval Beach Group One, he was present during Desert Shield. Interviewed by Frances Merrill. 26 pages.
