| Abstract |
Mrs. Greguhn (b. 1921) grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was married in 1937 and her husband joined the army after Pearl Harbor, serving in Iran. She recalls joining the WACS in 1945 and being sent to Fort Sam Houston in Texas where she was assigned to a medical unit and received training. She worked as a surgical technician in Louisiana and Georgia before being discharged at the end of the war. 17 pages. |

Today's date is August 12, 2004. This is part of the Saving the Legacy Project. My nam is Becky Lloyd. Harriet, let's start with when and where you were born. HAR: I was born on November 3, 1921 in Elko Nevada. BEC: What was your family doing in Elko, Nevada, at that time? HAR: Well, my father originally was an owner of a mine in Eureka, Nevada, and he sold his part and they moved to Elko. When I was about six months old, they came to Salt Lake again. So, I grew up in Salt Lake City. BEC: I see. You have no recollection ofElko at all? HAR: No. BEC: Okay, you say he sold his mine and then you moved to Salt Lake City. What type of work was he doing here? HAR: Well, custodian, I think, but he worked over to Liberty Park I know. BEC: As a groundskeeper? HAR: Uh-huh. BEC: I see. Tell me your parents' names. HAR: My father's name was John Henry Fine and my mother's name was Dorothea Jensen Fine. BEC: And how many children did your parents have? |
