A fine l i t t l e lad over a fe^.r old was offered for fg.QQ and noone wanted hi®* A boy of five was led by an old beggar women, She has four at her own and nothing but an empty room,but she said-KHis mother has died of cholera and his father i s trying to give him away and says if no one will feed him he must throw him into the river, the father i s also sick. One teacher sent his daughter-in-law home for a stay with her own parents and she was sold by her own mother. L i t t l e children are found deserted on the street,and some have been rescued from the river* One mother gave away her own baby and hired out as a wet nurse.
