Dear Mrs Ley I did not tblnk when I reached China in October that it would be June before I sent you a letter. It has been a busy year, but if I had used the hours more wisely I am sure that I might have sent you more Lints!a news. 1 must surely rofora for I was chosen W.B.M.I, secretary for the two Shantung Stations for this year. Ton at Chicago have by no means been out of our thoughts, I bave delighted to tell Ethel Long about the #0k visits there during my furloughyear, and of the many kind things and the inspiration of knowing tabe women of our Board, In the women1 s prayer-meeting yesterday, one of the most earnest, prayers was that you at home be given strength ana joy in your great service \ bin- Lory started on bar furlough last week. 1 hope she can visit Chicago, 1 am sure that If she does that would mean much to her and to you and to the work here at Llntsiiya, She will be sure to make you feel bow glad we are for the new growing building, and yet how It ie i ^ i necessary to keep on asklaa for funds , All winter long we bave seen a roofless new school-just bursting with hopes and plans and expectations, but not yet of any use. go* it is an especial joy that work has begun again. We hear the hammers and saws and watch each day to sea what changes that day has brought, Mr Wolfe is here, and he will make "each dollar accomplish all it can. " f* dare to plan to open the autumn classes in the new school rooms, but until the dormatories are also built and the girls can sleep In their own yard, the Women can not use their yard which the school is now borrowing. We were glad that Kiss Long did not nave to start alone. Mrs Houlding was golny to Pehtaibo at that time, Mrs Koinxnyr yaita Mr Hein-inger, haa come from Tochow for a few days to hein during the time of tbe large semi-annual church meetiry. Bo tbe three of them startso. together. They went by house-boat on the Grama Can I,ana we all went down to escort them and %o see the boat off. Tbe scbo 1 boys were there In uniform with flags and horns. g&M tcschaim ata hospital force allstopaed for a little time to bid then farewell. Tba women and girls of the tatting school cam© too, the BityU woran nd church women, the little neighbor children,Kindergarten and Sunday-School totyand ^ no seams least the school teachers and the forty-five school girls, Miss Long's own girls ffor whoa she has given BO much of her strength and time and love. Jbo wonder they could hardly keep their l&fibdkerchiefs down long enough for the picture she took. man the boat started we followed alory the bank -the sohoolfoj&s and I - and waved good-by from the bank.,where the boat slipped around a bend. fe h&ve to think very aftaU of ban j uc \ it will mean to her, and of how richly she has earned the best a furlough can bold. Dr,f.F.Tucker sent me a copy of a letter to you tslliay of the Techow needs and of why as a District we cordially indorsed those requests, le of the W.B.b.I, want especially to thank you who made the Increased appropriation possible for 19bO. Here at Liaising we are using some of this incrcr.c- d a; ;ant to -a ' tw Uaabon b: • . J; a national Conference.
