Show MONEY ORDERS. On and after July 1st, 1894, the fees for the issue of domestic Money Orders will be as follows: For orders- Not exceeding $2.50, 3c. All kinds of postal matter, except second-class matter, can be registered at the rate of eight cents for each package, in addition to the regular rates of postage, to be fully prepaid by stamps. Each package must bear the name and address of the sender, and a receipt will be returned from the person to whom addressed. Mail matter can be registered at all post offices in the United States. The Post Office Department or its revenue is not by law liable for the loss of any registered mail matter. FREE DELIVERY. The free delivery of mail matter at the residences of the people desiring it is required by lawin every city of 50,000 or more population, and may be established at every place containing not less than 5,000 inhabitants. Rates of Postage to Foreign Countries. Letter postage to Great Britain and Ireland will be 2 cents an ounce. The rates of postage to all foreign countries (except Canada, Mexico, Panama and Cuba; same as domestic rates) are as follows: Letters,5 cents for the first ounce or fraction, and 3 cents for each additional ounce or fraction of an ounce; postal cards, each 2 cents; newspapers and other printed matter, per 2 ounces, 1 cent; registration fee on letters or other articles 8 cents; commercial papers, packages not in excess of 10 ozs. 5 cents, packages in excess of lOozs., each 2 ozs., or fraction 1 cent; samples of merchandise, packets not in excess of 4ozs. 2cents, packets in excessof 4oz , each 2 oz. or fraction 1 cent, limit of weight 12oz. Limit of weight-41bs.6ozs. (packages of printed matter and commercial papers.) |
