Show 12 As we were coming toward home in the compound the other evening, we saw a group of little, boys coming toward us. We recognized Ch'eng Ch'un's older brother and his cousin, and yes, there could be no mistaking the little fat figure ahead for any one but Ch'eng Ch'un himself. But the upper half *of his face was covered with a mask and the lower half had crude chalk markings on it, and the baby lips were firmly compressed as the little acto/ marched grandly past. I stepped to one side of the road quickly and said, "O, I am so scared!" As we went on down the road, we: could hear chuckles of laughter and murmured remarks. Ch'eng Ch'un is a good little chap. He knows how to mind and when he goes to the hospital pravermeeting with his parents who are both nurses,, he sits there solemnly as long as his black eves will stay open and then he lies down on the rug if the meeting _ is in Dr. Tallmon's study, or leans against his father's knee and goes to sleep. I said he is a good little chap, but he isn't too good. He has occasional mischievous spells. One of the last things Mr. Bergamini did before he left to work on buildings at another station, was to put in some stakes where the new hospitall ward is to be, and levelled them up to show just how high the foundation should be. Dr. Tallmon has watched them constantly. She found an ox tied to one of them one day and had him removed. But the next day the stake itself had disappeared !
