As isual our guests came so early that by three o'clock,for which time >hey had been .invited,they bad seen all the. exhibit of school wort and were ready for the gymnastic part; so we 'began,alt'ho the sun. was hot and the g i r l s had bad no chance to rest after entertaining the guests. The gi g i r l s did look so nice in .their white suits an $ Mack shoes-,and there •was such a nice' long l i n e to make us proud with "every g i r l doing her best. The'folk dances were' especially enjoyed .and the'music added much to the pleasure o'f the audience, ;/e a l l felt (dad again to have this* opportunity to met- acquainted with the-parents and friends and .taahave them- know what We are teaching, the. g i r l s under our care. . We graduated eleven of our g i r l s this June*-four"fret: the seventh grade and seven Prom the sixth grade, The Educational Commission which v i s i t e d China, l a s t fall to examine into the educational.situation mere,recommended that the present system of - grading schools be changed to six years of primary work and six of academy,in place of the four years of lower primary,three of higher, and four years of academy that'we now have,so as fast as possible our schools are changing to that system, After this we will have only six years of' work here,when the; g i r l s will receive' a diploma that will 'admit tbem.tc our academy at lechou. fh.e academy monk i s to be * ' strengthened and normal'courses added-, no that pupils will be ready to go out an 1 teach' in. smaller, schools even, before they have f f i s h ed t h e i r 'own course; teachers are'-, so scarce now -and new sohoolsmare being opened so ranilly that the-.demand will be greater than'the supply-for some tine, so" the' g i r l s must be- prepared to help out. Of the g i r l s who graduated t h i s June three will be teaching next fall .and seven will go'en to Techou, -four helped, by t h e i r ' p a r e n t s and .three helped fcy our Student 'toan iAind. and funds from other departments for educating evangelistic -workers-, -There i s such a feeling of hope as we look at these g i r l s who have finished "this*'' part of their 'education and now can help .in the needy places that have teen waiting so long for 'some one to .cone. -An- educated person' i s a great power in a commainity:' will you not pray that these g i r l s may always use this power for the opening of hearts -and minds to <k>d-f s love? The two .girls og ours whs studied at Techou this year will be.teaching here next fall,and one of those here .will return to Techou to study,while another <*ill go to the s t r e e t chapel,whore we'have the afternoon Sunday School in whieh the school g i r l s help,tc take -charge of the day school,living at the chapel with her nether and exerting and influence for good in that-n e e d y ' d i s t r i c t , ^nether teacher will have charge of the industrial work, an I .incidentally(?) be a rsother -to a l l the g i r l s - i n the many ' ways in which they neel a m o t h e r . .
