OCR Text	Show The last session of the conference was the most inspiring of all. For his closing message, Dr. Kagawa chose the subject "Paul's interpretation of the cross of Christ, and its significance in Christian living." He brought home the deepest realities of Christian experience in a way that I think none of us who heajtd him can soon forget. Pastor Ch'eng had charge of the last half hour of the closing session; and he suggested that we use the time for an informal prayer meeting in which many might take part briefly. Dr. Kagawa was unable to understand the Chinese in which the prayers were expressed; but he couldn't have failed to feel the deeply spiritual atmosphere of the meeting. He was asked to lead in prayer at the close; and though he prayed in English, and more than half of the delegates were unable to understand his words, they could not have failed to feel his very earnest spirit. As we all joined in singing "God be with you till we meet again," we felt in a special way the reality of Christian unity and fellowship regardless of national and lingual differences. I haven't referred to political conditions in China; and I suppose I ought to do so, for many of the letters j have had in recent months ask about the situation. I wish I knew how to write intelligently on the subject. As you know from the papers, there are some parts of China which are still very much disturbed. Here in the north the situation has been relatively peaceful during recent months. There is plenty of banditry going on in many parts of Shantung; but we are rejoicing in the fact that for the immediate present at least there are no war activities in this vicinity. Please don't worry about us. We have no guarantee of freedom from danger; but that is true of life anywhere. "Safety first" would scarcely be an appropriate motto for Christians, you know. There is much to encourage us in our work here, in spite of the many unsolved problems and difficulties . Yours in the joy of His service,
