Show e Paotingfu, Hopei, China, Oct. 29, 1930, Pear Edith: Thank you for your nice letter of last spring with its loving words. I am very well now and very deep in the work here. I like to be busy, out sometimes I get a l i t t l e too busy. However, that is more enjoyable than not being busy enough, I would love to spend a week in your land of flowers and Bunshine|f and hear some of your delightful radio concerts. The Hubbards nave a radio, but we can get nothing worthjwhile in China as yet, so far as I know. Perhaps we will be able to get more soon now that the war seems to have ceased. I am glad for all the news you write about Ethel Long, the Eastmans ana your sister Susan. Doyp^S^e gire "Dr# S a s a n m^ l o v e when you write her. Thank you for tne very*S&fe^ftfi Easter Booklet you enclosed. I gave Mabel the Easter card yoa senS her. Thank you also for tae l i t t le picture of yourself and your husband^ which I am glad to have, as well as for the clippings^ <^d^/^<x^J^^^^/^yi^^^ I have four small fiible classesvwith from 26 to 30 students in attendance, some from each of the four high school classes. There are 29 members in the Christian Endeavor Society, mostly from the preparatory and first year high school classes. This Society meets Sunday nights in my study. Then there are about 25 older students who are enrolled in a Christian Student Federation. This meets on Sundays at Mr. Robinson^. I play the piano for them, out Mr. Booinson is the real faculty advisor, although I feel at libertv to out in t i e word now and then during d i t o i W | ^ o n s * : . ! / ^ > t ^ ^ ^ ^ - ^ ,M^^C .X£ XJoc^^.4*^^ c The fact that we are aole to have as much religious work as this makes me feel very thankful^under the circumstances,: although we are s t i ll reaching only a small fraction of the nearly 600 pupils in the school. I hope you will pray for this work and for m^part_in i t. On Saturday we are to have a half-holiday for the formal opening of the nice new sohool entrance. It really is a great addition to the attractiveness of the school grounds. I anticipate the meeting ^gi^eremony will be very interesting. We are Just in the midst of a vigorous observance of Better Home Week by our chureh. Meetings are being held everyday.
