The men are rather noisy but now that Ruth has gone,Laud has moved to her room and so is further away from the working place. They are up to the second story now: there has been a lot of trouble about brick,-with liei ban,you might know!-,but they are hoping to get the rest today. The fireplaces are In and look cosy already, we hope our furnace gets here so we will be plenty wimm but if it doesn't these fire-places will be lots of help. There is to be a closet in each study and in. Ruth's too,and fc#snia]1 oil room just off the present lamp room, and a toilet on beyond that. We will have a toliet up stairs too,one we are getting from ^ont.Ward,and the sewing room will open to the west into the new hall. I expect the coolie thinks he wild, be busy Athen,but he thinks he has so much to do now * don't suppose he could|icA any worse, it is one co ntinual# fight to get things watered but wehope the hedge will live and that we will harve some tomatoes. That is all we are raising this year,i?i the back part of the yard. We four had a picnic on the canal the other night before Ruth left m m did enjoy' it. The moon was small but it wasn't dark and it was cool and lovely. I had a eld so laid to wear a sweater anyway but it di drift quite spoil things. 1 got it jyst after school closed but it didn't last very long. Ruth and the Eastmans went off in three big carts a Week from today and probably the Eastmans are just getting to Pehtaiho now,altho , Ruth expected to go on first J Lining Ta Niang walked off the Ileininger's cellar stairs and got hurt rather badly so they \rere lelayed with, her a while but she got better and went along with them. The Silers are not sure about going: there is to be an addition to their family and they Rather think now that they can't get away. rlhe Hhhitakers are planning to go next week and are rattier thinking of going by boat: the canal is very low and the boats are not moving much so perhaps it woulL take too long. Laud and I expect to stay until about the first of lugust and then go to 3Jehtaiho,by boat to Techou,and then we wil Ruth expect to come back by boat. Alma is going to stay all summer to attend to the building and then go to the PP.U.M.C. in the fall to study a month, it isn't so hot now as it is some times so it is more bearalle. ± spend my time taking baths to keep cool# and shutting and open#ing windows and doors and keep an eye on the servants,so don't • d a great deal else done. 1 am trying to get all my letters answered,Which hasn't been done for two years anyway,and I must also get that school letter off before long, and order text books for next fall, etc. I hope I get everything done before I leave'. We are having lots of- apricots so we don't need to have you eat so many for us I But other green things you may still continue to eat our share too for we do long for them sol But don't jet sick doing our dharel ^ovingly, QAMxt<- * P.S, The fourth grade was trying to get a letter written,perCheng ^an x ' - v > they ii in'* get it done before 1 left and haven' yet. I amy be able to get a letter from h-3r to send later. It is too bad not to return thanks that way for the childrens' interets in them. |
