Dear Miss Tallman:- I am in receipt of your letter of April 22nd. We do not have the cc-called application blanks, your letter is a sufficient application. First of all I inclose for you two health blanks which I wish you would have filled, one by yourself, the other by our medical examiner, Dr. Willard. As you doubtless understand the question of health is one of very great importance. For our further information will you write me an informal letter, as full and compact as may be, concerning your early life, your full course of training, your conversion, church membership, also your age. In a word give me an informal life memorandum concerning yourself that we may have general outline with which to begin. I hope you will write this with utmost freedom. We shall also be glad to have the names of six or eight persons to whom we may write for testimonials , such as pastor, instructors, fellow-students, associates in work, whether Christian or secular. When these names are sent to us we will communicate with them at once' I 1 Your letter just received gives a very brief sketch of your life, and hints also at the nature of your work.
