Enhancing Primary Medical Care Providers' (PCPs) Compliance to American Academy of Pediatrics Bright Futures' Recommendations Regarding Safe Firearm Storage in the Homes Where Children Live and Play

Despite American Academy of Pediatrics' (AAP) Bright Futures anticipatory guidance recommendations for safe firearm storage in the homes where children live and play, research shows that even pediatricians self-report poor adherence to the delivery of this life saving anticipatory guidance. Not all children in America have a pediatrician as their primary care provider (PCP). Research regarding other board-certified clinicians' adherence to providing families with this guidance is essentially nil. This work's purpose is to increase compliance of all board-certified primary care providers' to providing Bright Futures' safe firearm storage guidance. The intervention is a professionally developed video of a pediatric trauma nurses' journey into the realms of pediatric gun death in America. The intervention is a professionally developed video that takes the audience into a level one pediatric trauma center and pediatric firearm trauma case scenarios.
